The invention concerns a mechanical linkage device capable of being pyrotechnically released (1) between a first mechanical element (2) and a second mechanical element (3). Said device is characterised in that it comprises: at least locking means (15) interposed between the first and second mechanical elements and axially interlocking said elements; means (10) for maintaining in position the locking means (15) countering the ejection force to which they are subjected, means released by the pressure of the gases generated by the initiation of the pyrotechnic component (5) and including a cap (10) integral with a head (41) bearing the pyrotechnic component or itself constituting a head bearing the pyrotechnic component. The invention is applicable to safety systems in motor vehicles.
