Preparation of cyclopent-2-ene-1-one is by reaction of acetylene, ethylene and CO at 100-600 bar and 50-250[deg]C using a transition metal complex as catalyst. Also included is an INDEPENDENT CLAIM for the use Co complexes as catalysts in the preparation of cyclopent-2-ene-1-one by reaction of acetylene, ethylene and CO.
