PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gap element which can be automatically mounted on a circuit board as well as easily setting an air-gap corresponding to discharging voltage. SOLUTION: The gap element is composed of a pair of reverse-L-shaped electrode member 2, 3 with end surface 2c, 3c of electrode parts 2a, 3a facing each other with a prescribed gap d, here, the horizontal part 2a, 3a are used as electrodes and vertical parts 2b, 3b are used as leads, and an insulating member 4 molding the electrode member 2, 3 integrally, while at least the end part of opposed electrode parts 2a, 3a and lower parts of the leads 2b, 3b are exposed.
