A thermal safety plug, e.g. for an aircraft wheel, comprises a fusible disc 20 (Figure not shown), which when subjected to an unsafe high temperature loses its structural properties and allows a plug (26) to be blown out through a bore (16). The plug (26) is sealed in a bore (14) by an O-ring (32) and may have a portion (30) locating in a bore (24) in the disc (20), The plug (26) is preferably made of a low-density material, to reduce the effect of centrifugal force, and the spacing between the end of the portion (30) and the bore (16) gives an indication of the degree of creep of the fusible disc (20).</p> |
