PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a primer-less hard coat compounded material having an improved close adhesion and a short curing time. SOLUTION: This thermosetting hard coat composition contains >=1 kind of partial condensation product of an organoalkoxysilane, colloidal silica, an adhesion accelerator selected from the group consisting of a (meth)acrylate- modified polyurethane and an acrylic copolymer having reactive (e.g. hydroxyl) site, and a volatile carboxylic acid such as acetic acid in an effective amount to make <=6.5 measured pH value, preferably 4.0-6.0 range. Such composition is excellent in close adhesion to a thermoplastic resin base substrate such as a polycarbonate and its curing time related to the abrasion resistance as compared with those of the composition containing less carboxylic acid amount.
