PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device capable of applying a brake at traveling time in a pushcart and capable of immobilizing the pushcart in a stopping lock state when necessary. SOLUTION: This braking device is composed of an operation part 31, an actuating part 32 and an operation wire 56 for connecting the operating part and the actuating part. The operation part has a fixing member 34, a pivotally moving member 36 pivotally movable on the fixing member, a lock member 38 pivotally movable on the pivotally moving member and a coil spring for elastically connecting the lock member to the pivotally moving member. The lock member controls a position of the pivotally moving member to the fixing member. A braking member 71 has a brake piece for performing the brake action by contacting with an outside surface of a wheel 13 and a locking piece for locking a vehicle 10 in a stopping state by acting on a central part of the wheel. One end part of the coil spring 70 is held by this pushcart, and the other end part is held by a braking member.
