PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near infrared ray-absorbing compound that much absorbs near-infrared rays of a specific wavelength emitted from a display in the wavelength range of 800-1,300 nm and has an extremely high optical transparency in the visible wavelength range, and provide a near infrared absorption filter. SOLUTION: The near infrared absorption compound has a molecular structure that is represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1-R5 are each a substituent, X is a counter ion for neutralization). In addition, the near IR absorption compound is dispersed in a polymer resin to give the objective resin composition. The resultant near IR absorption resin composition is characteristically laminated on a base material to obtain the far IR absorption filter.
