PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood component separating method capable of expanding a blood bag at the time of centrifugal separation and hardly mixing red blood cells in plasma after centrifugal separation. SOLUTION: In this blood component collecting method, using a blood component collecting apparatus 1 provided with a blood bag 105, a red blood cell preserving medium filling bag 107 connected to the blood bag 105, and a blood component collecting bag 106, blood components are separated and collected from the blood stored inside the blood bag. This blood component collecting method includes a centrifugal separation process in which blood is separated into a plasma component 131 and a concentrated red blood cell component 132 while outflow of air 130 flowing inward in storing blood inside the blood bag 105 is prevented, an air transferring process in which the air 130 inside the blood bag 105 is let flow into the red blood cell preserving medium filling bag 107, and a collecting process in which the plasma component 131 separated in the blood bag 105 is collected into the plasma collecting bag 106.
