Organopolysiloxane gels containing gel-bound hydrophillic groups are prepared by reacting a hydrosilylatable unsaturated organopolysiloxane resin , a crosslinker bearing Si-H bound hydrogen, and a hydrosilylatable unsaturated hydrophile, in the presence of an effective amount of a hydrosilylation catalyst, at least a portion of the reaction taking place in the presence of at least 60 weight percent of an oleaginous composition containing at least 50 weight percent l ow viscosity organopolysiloxane. When sheared, the crosslinked organosiloxane compositions form a stable, preferably incompatible gel which may be used in turn to form a stable emulsion with large amounts of ordinarily incompatible hydrophillic liquids. The emulsions thus formed are suitable for use in a wide variety of cosmetic products.
