METHOD AND DEVICE FOR READING PICTURE INFORMATION USING STORAGE PHOSPHOR AND SOLID-STATE PICTURE DETECTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a picture having good S/N and a high picture quality in a device which uses a picture recording sheet to read radiograph information. SOLUTION: A picture recording sheet 211 where a storage phosphor layer 212 is laminated on a base 213 and a solid-state picture detector 223 provided with a photoconductive layer 223c essentially consisting of a-Se and electrodes 223a and 223b arranged on both sides of this layer 223c are used. The sheet 211 is scanned with exciting light L3 having a wavelength of approximately 600 nm while applying an enough electric field for activating avalanche amplification in the photoconductive layer 223 by a voltage applying means 82, and stimulated phosphorescent light L4 having a wavelength of approximately 400 nm which is emitted from the phosphor layer 212 is made incident on the photoconductive layer 223c through a light guide 222 and an exciting light cut filter 225, and electric charges generated in the photoconductive layer 223c are detected by a current detection circuit 80a to obtain a radiograph signal.
