<p>A method of conducting a point of sale (POS) transaction includes providing a POS device at the location of the transaction, providing a server at a location remote from the POS device, providing a means of communication between the POS device and the server and downloading a POS program from the server to POS device. The POS program controlls the operation of the POS device to conduct a sale. The POS device then receives details of the transaction transmitting details of the POS transaction from POS device to the server. The details of the POS transaction are then stored in a database within the server.
