A process which comprises using as a catalyst a combination of one metal compound containing a Group II metal and/or a Group IV metal of the Periodic Table and a phosphine compound to conduct transesterification of an ester with an alcohol. Thus, a high-purity ester, especially one having two or more ester groups, in particular a high-purity (meth)acrylic ester having two or more (meth)acrylate groups, can be easily produced in a high yield without necessitating a complicated reaction step or using a catalyst having poor handleability.
|
