An entertainment apparatus includes a storage unit which stores a device driver for a peripheral device outside a kernel. In order to make the peripheral device operable, a CPU causes an I/O processor to execute the device driver based on a remote procedure call. Data transfer between the peripheral device and the CPU is performed by a direct memory access according to a communication protocol which is commonly used at least in the apparatus.
