PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a particulate water-soluble cellulosic derivative capable of setting a certain specific pulverization level and increasing the bulk density of the resultant product without roughening the surface of the product. SOLUTION: This method for producing a particulate water-soluble cellulosic derivative comprises (a) producing a feed composition containing a swellable and/or a soluble cellulosic derivative and a specific amount of water in the feed composition, (b) bringing the feed composition into contact with a superheated gas mixture and converting the cellulosic derivative in the feed composition into a solid state form of finely particulate particles, (c) separating the particulate cellulosic derivative from the superheated gas mixture and (d), as necessary, drying the particulate cellulosic derivative. |
