PURPOSE: To enhance usability and convenience of an AV system, etc., to be constructed by being mutually connected by an IEEE 1394 interface. CONSTITUTION: An STR 60 performs control so as to link an on/off state of a power source for other system equipment to conform to prescribed conditions according to the power source state of the present device. In this case, a POW ER CONTROL command in an AV/C command is used. Thus, each piece of equipment in this system is recognized to independently exist on a data bus and in addition, a linked function of power on/off as a system can be provided even when each equipment is not connected with a power outlet, etc., with linked function.
