PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lowering or variation in a corrosion inhibiting action in optical cathodic protection using titanium oxide by keeping the optical potential of a coating film when irradiated with light higher or not sufficiently lower than the potential of a metallic material. SOLUTION: When a metallic material is inhibited from corrosion, a corrosion inhibiting device provided with a supporting member 2, a coating film 1 furnished on the supporting member 2 and containing at least titanium oxide and a conductive wire 4 for electrically connecting the coating film 1 with the metallic material 6 is used. The electron formed in the coating film 1 when the coating film 1 is irradiated with light is transferred to the metallic material 6 through the conductive wire 4, and the potential of the material 6 is kept lower than its oxidation potential.
