PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dissolve the problem that usually, since a maximum amount of the image data recorded on an HDD is decided, latitude of a trick is low, and a high speed search is limited, and further, a reverse search is almost impossible. SOLUTION: When the HDD 2 starts to write-in the image data inputted at a transfer rate higher than at a reproducing time from a VCR 1, before the write-in of the image data of one whole video source are ended, the HDD 2 starts to read out the written-in image data at the transfer rate of at a required reproducing time lower than the input transfer rate of at a required reproducing time, etc., decided for the image data parallel to the write-in of the image data. Thus, the write-in position of the HDD 2 always goes ahead from a read-out position, and since a recording area is enlarged, a trick play by the random access of the HDD 2 becomes possible within this recording area.
