PURPOSE: A method of treating a female suffering from female sexual dysfunction (FSD), in particular female sexual arousal dysfunction (FSAD) is provided. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises delivering to the female a drug that is capable of potentiating cAMP in the sexual genitalia, in an amount to cause potentiation of cAMP in the sexual genitalia of the female. The pharmaceutical composition for use (or when in use) in the treatment of FSD, preferably FSAD comprises a drug capable of potentiating cAMP in the sexual genitalia of a female suffering from FSD, preferably FSAD, wherein the drug is optionally admixed with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, diluent or excipient and is a PDE inhibitor (I:PDE) wherein the PDE is a cAMP hydrolyzing PDE (and optionally cGMP hydrolyzing). The pharmaceutical composition is applied before or during sexual stimulation.
