PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stainless steel for cathode-ray tube supporting frame, minimal in reduction in tension at blackening heat treatment, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The stainless steel for cathode-ray tube supporting frame, minimal in reduction in tension after blackening heat treatment, has a composition consisting of, by mass, 0.005-0.2% C, <=2% Si, <=2% Mn, <=0.04% P, <=0.05% S, <=0.05% N, 8-20% Cr and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities and also has >=400 MPa yield stress at room temperature after cold rolling. It is preferable that one or more kinds among 0.1-2.5% Mo, 0.1-2.5% Cu, 0.1-2.5% Ni, 0.02-0.5% Nb, 0.05-0.5% Ti, 0.05-0.5% V and 0.0005-0.005% B are further incorporated.
