PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a recording quality decrease brought about by a carriage back. SOLUTION: In this recording apparatus, a recording head with many recording wires is loaded to a carriage running along a platen. A control substrate 61 operates to project the recording wires towards the platen on the basis of recording information to record images to a sheet transferred between the recording head and the platen. The control substrate detects with the use of a pressure sensor the carriage back generated when a reaction force of a striking force by the recording wires to the platen acts from the platen to the recording head. The control substrate can operate a recording quality-correcting device 66 (a carriage velocity-changing device 67, an energization time-changing device 68 and a platen gap-changing device 69) for properly correcting the recording to the sheet on the basis of the detected result.
