A method and apparatus to assemble permanent magnets, especially rare earth permanent magnets into a machine component such as a motor, generator, or motor/generator by sequentially supplying unmagnetised bodies 1 to a magnetising station 5 for magnetisation and then inserting them into their respective locations 6 in the machine component 7. Also disclosed is an arrangement in which unmagnetised bodies are inserted into their locations in the machine component and magnetised in situ. |
