PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optimum structure for making a blowing means small is size which realizes a quiet design related to cooling of a liquid crystal panel and a light source lamp and preventing dust on the image forming screen of the liquid crystal panel to make a liquid crystal projector small in size. SOLUTION: The area from the liquid crystal panel or surrounding region of the liquid crystal panel to an optical means/polarizing means or a polarization converting device is cooled by using a plurality of small-size blowing means with superior quiet property and using air passages having small apertures matching the blowing means. The device is provided with a plurality of air passages from the liquid crystal panel side, where the temperature to be controlled is low to the light source side where the temperature to be controlled is high, so that a plurality of objects to be cooled can be cooled by a single cooling means.
