PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that manufacturing work is reduced by facilitating adjustment at an assembling time. SOLUTION: The projector 1 which is respectively independently constituted of a light source unit 10, a uniform illumination optical unit 30, a color separation optical unit 50, an optical modulating unit 70 and a projection lens unit 90, is provided with an adjusting means including a light source unit adjusting mechanism to adjust the position of the light source unit 10, a return mirror adjusting mechanism to adjust the position of an optical axis W in the uniform illumination optical unit 30 and a dichroic mirror adjusting mechanism at the color separation optical unit 50. When the positional adjustment of an optical part at the inside of the optical units 10-90 is previously performed, relative positional adjustment between respective optical units 10-90 may be performed by the adjusting means at the time of assembling the projector 1, so that the adjustment at the assembling time is facilitated.
