PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a great electric power output at the start-up of lighting a lamp and to suppressed greatly the electric power loss at the stabilized lighting. SOLUTION: The size of air gap of the core 51d, 51e of a transducer 51 provided at DC/DC converter is made to charge. In this structure, when the output of the discharge lamp device becomes big as at the start-up of lighting, the magnetic flux passes in not only the small air gap area, but also the greater air gap area. When the output of the discharge lamp device becomes stable as in the stable lighting, the magnetic flux passes only in the area of small air gap of the core because of the relatively small excitation. Therefore the lighting device of discharge lamp can have a big electric power output at the start-up of lighting and can suppress greatly the electric power loss in the stable lighting. |
