摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve purifying performance by increasing the temperature rising rate (warming speed) of a catalyst after the start of an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine is provided with a casing 18 having an exhaust gas inflow port and an exhaust gas outflow port, a catalyst carrier 51 mounted in the casing 18, and a catalyst carried on the catalyst carrier 51. A low resistance part 54 constituted so as to have lower flow resistance than other parts is provided on a part of the catalyst carrier 51. The low resistance part 54 is provided on a part having the high flow velocity of exhaust gas flowing into the catalyst carrier 51. The temperature rising rate of the low resistance part 54 is increased, the carrying amount of catalyst component such as platinum is made larger than the carrying amount of the other part to form a high-density carrying part to enhance temperature rising performance.
