PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor in which image defects such as interference fringes and a stripe pattern are stably prevented and a uniform, accurate and beautiful image can be obtained, and to provide a method of manufacturing that photoreceptor. SOLUTION: In an electrophotographic photoreceptor having a photoreceptor layer formed on a cylindrical substrate consisting of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, the outer circumference face of the cylindrical substrate is cut with a specified range of the cutting pitch.
