Micro combined heat and power unit with solenoid fuel control valve

Disclosed is a micro combined heat and power (mCHP) generation system 1 comprising a burner 4 and an internal combustion engine (ICE) 2 used to power a generator 3.A solenoid valve, which may be a master gas valve 42, is provided which controls the flow of fuel to the burner and the solenoid is powered by the generator such that the solenoid valve is held open whilst the engine is running. The solenoid valve may act as a safety shut off valve.
