The gearbox housing (1) has a section (1a) containing an intermediate reverse gear pinion (2), fitted with a detachable cover (5) held in place by a clip (6) with its two ends (6c) engaging with blind holes (7) in the housing. The cover (5) has a rubber-based seal (8) pressed against the edge (1c) of the housing section and projecting into the cover, and the clip is in the form of a U-shaped metal rod with an elongated base (6a) and side branches (6b).
