Lubricants and hydraulic fluids comprise a base stock selected from polyphenylethers, alkylthiophenes, halogenated diphenyl ethers, polyphenyl thioethers, and mixtures of a major proportion of a dihalogenated diphenyl ether or thioether and a minor proportion of a halogenated C 2 -C 4 alkyl-benzene, monohalogenated diphenyl ether or chlorinated biphenyl, and up to 5 wt. per cent of a mixture of an organic silicon compound containing an group and a phosphorus compound of formula where R, R 1 , and R 2 are hydrogen, C 1 -C 20 alkyl, phenyl, or substituted phenyl, not more than one of R and R 1 being hydrogen, a, b, and c are 0, 1, 2 or 3, the sum being 3 and s is 0 or 1. Exhaustive lists of all ingredients are given. The silicon compounds include silicates, siloxanes, disiloxanes, polysiloxanes, organosilanols, cyclosiloxanes and alkoxy and phenoxysilanes. Phosphorus compounds include phosphates, phosphites, phosphinates, phosphonates, phosphonites, phosphines and phosphine oxides.</p> |
