ANTIFOULING METHOD OF CONCRETE STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove marine organisms depositing on a concrete structure. SOLUTION: A metallic sheet 1 is fixed to the surface of the part of the concrete structure dipped in seawater, a currnet is applied between the sheet 1 as a cathode and an anode 2 arranged opposite to the sheet 1, and hence an electrocoating 22 of CaCO3.Mg(OH)2 is deposited on the sheet 1 surface. A current is applied between the cathode 1 and anode 2 at a current density of 1-5 A/m2 to release the marine organisms depositing on the electrocoating 22 along with the electrocoating.
