PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine capable of preventing generation of noise during the operation without enlarging the main body of the washing machine. SOLUTION: This washing machine comprises a main body shell 1 with a clothes slot 1a opened on the front, a bottomed cylindrical water tub 4 disposed inside the main body shell 1 with an opening 4a opened facing the part opposite to the clothes slot 1a, packing 10 made of an elastic body connecting the clothes slot 1a and the opening 4a to form a passage, a drum 5 supported rotatably inside the water tub 4, a drive mechanism 9 to drive the drum 5 to rotate, first and second suspending devices 6 and 39 for suspending the water tub 4 oscillatably, and a cushioning material 41 disposed between an oscillating body 40 constituting the total weight suspended by the first and second suspending devices 6 and 39 and the inner wall 1b of the main body shell 1.
