<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate unnaturalness by correcting the quantization step of encoding target split image by quantization step information used in the encoding of a split image other than the encoding target split image when the encoding is applied. CONSTITUTION:An image inputted from an input terminal 101 is divided into four split image signals 103 by an image divider 102. The signals 103 are inputted to split image encoders 104-107, respectively, and encoded via discrete cosine transformation parts 115-118, quantization parts 119-122 and code allocation parts 123-126. etc. In such a case, the quantization step used in three blocks in the neighborhood of a dividing boundary is corrected corresponding to distance to the dividing boundary. Values decided in quantization control parts 108-111 are used in the quantization step to be corrected based on the exclusive state of the buffers 127-130 of the encoders 104-107. In this way, it is possible to set the quantization step used in the neighborhood of the division boundary at values near to each other amoung each split image.</p> |
