PURPOSE: An inverter protection device for an LCD back light is provided to protect an inverter against high driving voltage of a lamp at an abnormal state of the lamp, and to prevent the high voltage by detecting the lamp. CONSTITUTION: A protector of an inverter is composed of a pulse wave generating unit generating pulse width square wave by comparing an adjusting voltage of inverter brightness with the reference chopping wave voltage; a direct/alternating current converting unit outputting inverter driving voltage by switching according to the signal from the pulse wave generating unit; an output connector receiving the alternating current from the direct/alternating current converting unit and transmitting to a lamp; and a high voltage output control unit(204) detecting the voltage from the output connector and shutting off the input voltage from the pulse generating unit or the circuit voltage for high voltage output. The inverter protecting apparatus prevents the high voltage output of the inverter and power loss by shutting off the inverter in opening the lamp or connecting the lamp to an outer ground. |
