PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method and an apparatus for enhancing not only treatment efficiency but also the dehydration efficiency of excess sludge in a sewage treatment system to a large extent, in a system for treating organic wastewater using activated sludge under an aerobic or anaerobic condition. SOLUTION: In the treatment of organic wastewater including a process for dehydrating excess sludge generated by biologically treating organic wastewater, organic wastewater before biological treatment is passed through a sieve device and the transmitted water from the sieve device is biologically treated while the solid not transmitted through the sieve device is added to the excess sludge generated by biological treatment to perform dehydration.
