PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling delivery capacity without using an expensive and bulky electromagnetic clutch and a pump system therefore in a liquid pump system. SOLUTION: A fluid inlet 8 of a vortex flow pump 1 being one example of the liquid pump alternatively communicates with a liquid phase space and a gaseous phase space of a reservoir tank 26 via a two-position three-way valve 32, and when communicating with the gaseous phase space, gas such as air can be sucked in the vortex flow pump 1. At that time, when a valve position of a two-position four-way valve 34 is switched as a drawing 3, a fluid outlet 9 communicates with the reservoir tank 26 to send back the gas to the reservoir tank 26. Thus, while the gas circulates between the vortex flow pump 1 and the reservoir tank 26, though the vortex flow pump 1 rotates, the delivery capacity becomes zero. Since this is an idly rotating state, motive power consumption at that time reduces to a negligible degree.
