PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent fiber stab type optical device which is small in size, facilitates alignment and prevents the characteristics of an isolator from being deteriorated by the influence of external magnetic fields and an optical module using the same. SOLUTION: Optical fibers 5 and 5 are respectively disposed in two through- holes 3a and 3a divided by a groove 7 formed at ferrules 3 consisting of diamagnetic materials and the one-side ends of the respective optical fibers are projected into the groove 7 and the one-side ends of the optical fibers are optically connected to each other via the optical isolator 2 disposed in the groove 7, by which the fiber stab type optical device S1 coating the groove 7 with the diamagnetic material is constituted. The optical module M constituted by respectively disposing the fiber stab type optical device S and an optical element 15 for receiving or emitting the light for optical connection to the fiber stab type optical device S on a substrate 14 is obtained.
