PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the generation of wrong angle information attributed to disorders and troubles in the determination of the angle position of a transmitter wheel in an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: Transmitters 16 and 17 are provided corresponding to a transmitter wheel 15 and signals of the transmitters are transmitted to a controller 13. The controller controls gas exchange valves 28 and 29 of an internal combustion engine. The position of the transmitter wheel 15 is determined simultaneously using the increment transmitter 16 and the absolute angle transmitter 17.
