<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road surface recognition device capable of detecting accurately a road surface by using a scanning type Doppler radar. SOLUTION: This road surface recognition device loaded on a vehicle is equipped with the scanning type Doppler radar for receiving a reflected wave, a stationary object detection means for detecting an object as a stationary object when a reception level of the Doppler radar to the object becomes maximum near the frequency corresponding to the own car speed, and a road surface detection means for detecting the reception level of the road surface based on the reception level of all stationary objects detected by the stationary object detection means within the whole beam angle when the beam angle of the Doppler radar is changed. The road surface detection means detects, for example, the smallest stationary object reception level within the whole beam angle as the road surface reception level.</p> |
