A suspension system includes a pivot pin (8) having one end fixedly attached to a cross member (60) of a vehicle frame. A walking beam (10) is pivotally attached to the pivot pin (8) at a location between opposite ends of the walking beam. A first suspension arm (4) has one end pivotally attached to one end of the walking beam (10) and another end fixedly attached to an axle. A second suspension arm (6) has one end pivotally attached to the other end of the walking beam (10) and another end fixedly attached to the axle. The first and second arms (4, 6) are substantially parallel to level ground.
