METHOD AND APPARATUS OF PROVIDING ADAPTIVE EQUALIZATION USING SIGN PERMUTATION FILTERING

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus of providing adaptive equalization using sign permutation filtering are provided to equalize a signal by using a non-linear digital filter and generate an output signal for providing strong frequency tracking by using sign permutation information inserted in a basic signal. CONSTITUTION: An adaptive equalizer(140) comprises a sign permutation filter(210), an estimator(220), an error generator(220), and an update circuit(230). The sign permutation filter(210) performs a filtering process for input samples by using a sign permutation indicator. The estimator(220) estimates the input samples by using a group of weight values or coefficients(222), or a linear combination logic(224). The error generator(220) calculates errors of the estimated samples produced by the estimator(210). The update circuit(240) receives the input samples, the weight values, and the error indicator and generates updated values for the group of the weight values.
