<p>The orthesis has two tangs (4,5) strapped (2,3) to the user's leg and extending on either side of a central pivot region (7) which lies alongside the knee joint (1). The proximal ends of the tangs are separately pivoted inside the housing of the central pivot region, and are geared together using equal-sized pinions. There is a brake consisting of two wheels or drums adjacent to the pinions, acted upon by a wedge which is tightened by a screw.</p> |
