PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cellulose acetate suitable for preparing a cellulose acetate solution (dope) in a milder condition using an organic solvent other than methylene chloride. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a cellulose acetate comprising using cellulose as a raw material and subjecting to an acetylation reaction to produce a cellulose acetate, an acetic ester is used as an acetylating agent.
