PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide light amplification glass which hardly suffers thermal damage due to excitation light and has a wide range of wave length carrying gains. SOLUTION: In this light amplification glass, 0.01 to 10 mass % of Er is added to a matrix glass comprising 20 to 80 mol% of Bi2O3, 5 to 75 mol% of B2O3+SiO2, 0.1 to 35 mol% of Ga2O3+WO3+TeO2, <=10 mol% of Al2O3, <=30 mol% of GeO2, <=30 mol% of TiO2, <=30 mol% of SnO2 and not comprising CeO2. |
