PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric to which hydrophility is imparted and which can stably be treated in a simple process and is also suitable for high speed continuation, to provide a method for producing the same, to provide a separator which has an excellent electrolyte-retaining property, uses the nonwoven fabric and is used for a secondary battery, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric which has >=3 atom % of carboxyl groups measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy in the bond forms of the carbon components on the surface of the substrate of the nonwoven fabric, the nonwoven fabric which has >=1 atom % of fluorine atoms and >=10 atom % of oxygen atoms in the bond forms of the carbon components on the surface of the substrate of the nonwoven fabric, the separator which uses a polyolefin- based nonwoven fabric and is used for a secondary battery, and the method for producing the same. |
