SMART BATTERY SYSTEM WITH BUILT-IN CHARGER CIRCUIT AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING OPERATION OF SMART BATTERY SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A smart battery system with built-in charger circuit and method for controlling operation of the same is provided to independently charge battery by the power supplied from an AC adapter, while avoiding collision in the use of system management bus. CONSTITUTION: A smart battery system comprises a smart battery(41) for supplying battery power and battery related information; a charger circuit(43) for supplying charging current to the smart battery; a micro controller(45) for receiving battery related information through a bi-directional communication system connected to the smart battery, and controlling the charger circuit in accordance with the received information; and a power supply circuit(49) for supplying power to the charger circuit and the micro computer. The micro controller cuts off the communication with the smart battery when the smart battery system is mounted to an electronic device, and controls the charger circuit in response to the charging command input from the electronic device.
