PHOTODETECTOR AND OPTICAL INFORMATION RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a photodetector without the deterioration of its performance and to make its function higher with a size as in the past. SOLUTION: The number of the output signals of the photodetector is decreased by computing the detection output of a prescribed region by using a subtracter, by which the downsizing is realized. Or the higher function is realized with the size kept unchanged by allocating the decreased output terminals to the higher function.
