PURPOSE: A method for generating interrupt in receiving ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) cells is provided to quickly transmit an AAL5(ATM Adaptation Layer) type of packets to an application program by selecting the number of times for generating interrupts. CONSTITUTION: A number of ATM cells are stored in a buffer for the purpose of the ATM cell in a system memory(411). If a payload type of indicator of indicator bit having a certain size is detected(421), a communication network interface card generates interrupt(441). Otherwise, if a payload type of indicator bit having a certain size is not detected(421), it is checked that a certain amount of ATM cells are stored in the ATM cell buffer(431). If so, the communication network interface card generates interrupt(441).
