The mounting for attaching a telescopic sight to a hunting or sports rifle gives a clearance of not more than 10 mm. between the top of the rifle barrel (20) and the bottom of the sight. It has a rear clip with locking nose (18) containing a ball bearing which is biased downwards by a spring. The base of the mounting (2) is extended at the front which contains fasteners for the front clip (4).
