PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a miniaturizable paper feed mechanism for a printer with low power consumption. SOLUTION: This paper feed mechanism for a printer comprises a roller holding member 5 for rotatably holding a pressure contact roller 4. The roller holding member has a bearing member 6 held movable in a direction perpendicular to the feed direction of a recording medium. The pressure contact roller 4 is rotatably journalled on the bearing member 6 so as to be placed in pressure contact with a paper feed roller 3.
