PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cage device for an elevator capable of preventing such a trouble that the smoke by a fire or the like from rising in a hoistway and infiltrating into a cage with a simple structure. SOLUTION: A side ventilation path 12 and an upper ventilation path 14 are provided at the upper end section of an edge section erect face 2 at the edge section of a car floor 1 to form a ventilation path bent into an L-shape on a longitudinal section, opened upward, and communicated with the outside air. When the smoke by a fire or the like of a building in which the elevator is installed enters the elevator hoistway, such a trouble that the rising smoke in the hoistway infiltrates into the cage 10 is prevented by a simple device structure. The external noise such as the vertically moving sound of the elevator entering the upper ventilation path 14 and the cage 10 through the upper ventilation path 14 can be reduced, and the cage 10 is silenced.
